In 1995 SAIT partnered with Engineered Air to develop an Advanced Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Centre, one of only five Centres of Excellence at the time.

Don Taylor provided a significant investment to get things started and brought the industry together to raise the required funds.

In 1997 the Engineered Air Centre of Excellence opened in the Thomas Riley Building. This centre offers the most up to date facilities in Canada for thousands of students in apprenticeship and certificate programs.
