The Human Performance Lab at the University of Calgary aims to "be the leader in both basic and applied research relating to human neuro - musculo - skeletal health and well-being, from birth to advanced age."

Founded by Dr. Benno M. Nigg, PhD, in 1981, the lab is a multi-disciplinary research centre that explores mobility and longevity.

The current Dr. Benno Nigg Chair in Biomechanics, Mobility and Longevity is Dr. Arthur Kuo. Dr. Kuo and his team pursues research topics such as design of prosthetic limbs, neural control of muscles, sensorimotor integration for balance, energetics of walking, mobility of older and impaired individuals, and robot locomotion.
